smart city
The term “smart city” refers to the use of data-sharing smart technology to make energy use more efficient, reduce the negative effects of big cities on the environment, and make people’s lives much better in a big way. To make this a reality, technologies such as the Internet of Things and information and communication technology are needed. These allow urban operations and services to be designed and put into place in a way that respects economic, social, environmental, and cultural values without lowering the quality of life or making cities less competitive.
Typically, a smart city offers solutions to numerous challenges. In context, the essential components of Smart City infrastructure are:
- Connectivity in IT
- Protection of Citizens
- Smart Energy
- Sufficient Water Supply Solid Waste Management
- Effective Urban Transport
- Digitalization
- Sustainable Environment
- Sound Government
- Wellness and Instruction
- Protection of Citizens
R2V has been working on various aspects of smart cities, among which instances of “Quetta Safe City”, and “DHA-I-R Climate Resilient City” stand out.
In the case of Smart & Safe DHA I-R the manadate was to build upon the already significant achievements of DHA I-R and convert it into a sustainable Climate Resilient Smart City with inbuilt safe city features.
R2V Private Limited worked in the fllowing areas to achieve the objectives.
GIS and Remote Sensing based assessments, analysis, and decision making in the following fields;
- Alternate Energy: Established energy parks based on the power generation capacity in the identified areas.
- Introduced predictive technologies in surveillance: including remote biometrics like facial and body posture recognition, traffic and vehicle analytics, Intelligent Alert system at the Control Room.
- Conducted in-depth Water Resource Assessment and Hazard Modelling: to quantify sub-soil, surface, and overhead tanks water quality. Measures were also be suggested for rainwater harvesting and water management.
- Waste Management and Sewage Treatment: R2V undertook exhaustive studies and suggested smart waste management and disposal technologies, and identify the locations and type of Sewage Treatment Plant most suited for DHA I-R.
- Horticulture and Afforestation: Our experts in horticulture and forestation worked with the survey and GIS teams to identify suitable locations for forest cover, study the soil conditions, and recommend short- and longer-term growing plants and trees in the Area of Interest.
- Air Quality Monitoring: is an area of interest as pollution is a major health hazard in urban centers. Sensor-based air quality monitors were used at key locations within DHA I-R to identify the source and nature of pollution with a real-time information-sharing model.
- Land Reclamation: is another facet that was studied, and recommendations would be made for suitable reclamation areas.
R2V is responsible for implementing essential components of the Quetta Safe City project. Among these include:
- Remote Sensing and GIS Tracking and Navigation
- Automated Fingerprint Identification
- RFID Hardware, Software, and Integration
- Desktops, notebooks, tablets, and printers are on hand
- Mobile Vehicle Control Service Vehicle
- Entry/Exit Points Completion, Including Configuration of Integrated Services
