“Truth is sought for its own sake”. Ibn al-Haytham (965–1039)
A research study is a process of finding answers to difficult scientific, social, economic or health questions and, therefore, a way to reaching the truth.
Social research refers to studies conducted by social scientists and includes multi-disciplines such as social policy, human geography, political science, social anthropology and education.
Similarly, researchers use many different methods in order to describe, explore and understand social life. Social methods can generally be subdivided into two broad categories; Qualitative and Quantitative.
Quantitative methods are concerned with attempts to quantify social phenomena and collect and analyze numerical data, and focus on the links among a smaller number of attributes across many cases. Qualitative methods, on the other hand, emphasize personal experiences and interpretations over quantification, and are more concerned with understanding the meaning of social phenomena and focus on links among a larger number of attributes across relatively few cases.
While very different in many aspects, both qualitative and quantitative approaches involve a systematic interaction between theories and data.
Likewise economic issues like poverty alleviation, economic inequalities can be addressed in a more meaningful way such as to improve current data and methods of poverty and inequality analysis, including greater standardization of household.
Common tools of quantitative researchers include surveys, questionnaires, and secondary analysis of statistical data that has been gathered for other purposes (for example, censuses or the results of social attitudes surveys). Typically the major components in a causal study can be listed as are:
- The Research Problem
- The Research Question
- The Program (Cause)
- The Units
- The Outcomes (Effect)
- The Design
R2V Services has the dedicated working groups who are able to conduct and convene all of these components and help make analysis which lead to knowledgeable, reasoned decisions that impact society in a positive way.
